08.12 Action Alert - August 20 is Florida's Primary and Gainesville's City Elections

Empowering Voters Defending Democracy
Time Range For Action Alert:
Aug 12 2024 to Aug 20 2024

Did you know that the Alachua County School Board contest and Gainesville City Commission contest will be decided by the primary and Gainesville city elections on August 20? Since those positions are non-partisan and there are only two candidates in each of those races, the one with majority vote will take the contest and the position. So, it’s really important to vote in the primary election!

If you have not yet been to the League’s VOTE411.org voter guide, now’s the time. On it you will enter your address and party affiliation and will be directed to your specific ballot choices. But that’s not all. You’ll be able to read information about the choices and read information the candidates have written about their positions and qualifications.

This is the time to talk politics. Encourage family, friends and neighbors to vote. Let them know about the VOTE411.org. Voting is always important. The importance of this election cannot be overstated. Defend democracy. Empower voters. That’s what the LWV does!
