CALL TO ACTION - SAVE OUR SCHOOLS
President Foxx requests ALL members respond to this call to action to save our schools. Please share with your list serves, friends and family. This is a community concern and we request ALL HANDS ON DECK.
The State of Florida has listed several schools, all on the East side of Alachua County, as “needing improvement.” This designation comes with a promise of serious consequences if students don’t test better. Many children attending these schools need more help than the schools can give. As a community, if we provide that help, the future will be better for everyone.
The Alachua County Branch of the NAACP needs your help in saving our schools. We are asking all pastors and members of congregations, social, and civic organizations to attend an important mass meeting on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 6:30 at the Dayspring Missionary Baptist Church, 1945 NE 8th Avenue. Our School Superintendent Shane Andrews, Dr. Leanetta McNealy, ACSB District 4 Representative, and the Principals of the schools in need of improvement will speak.
This is a challenge to our resilience as a community, a summons to our collective will to create the change we wish to see.
“If not us, then who? If not now, when?”
The Honorable John Robert Lewis, Civil Rights Leader and Representative for Georgia’s 5th District in the U.S. Congress.
Yours in the Struggle,
Evelyn Foxx
