LWV of Alachua County is proud to partner with the Matheson History Museum on their Voices and Votes: Alachua County exhibit. As part of the programming around that exhibit and the 2024 election, the Matheson is presenting Bloody Streets and Crooked Lines: 100 Years of Black Voter Suppression in Florida with James Abraham.
From the violent and fatal 1921 election riots in Ocoee to modern redistricting issues, James Abraham explores in his presentation the suppression of voters in Florida over one hundred years and the prime figures in the struggle for full and equal access to the polls.
LWVAC will be tabling at the event and welcomes volunteers to man the table. Please contact vote [at] lwv-alachua.org (Voter Services) to sign up.
If you would like to attend the event as a guest, please use the links below to RSVP to attend either in person or via Zoom.
The Matheson History Museum is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Wednesday through Saturday. Admission is free.
