Dr. Mizyl Damayo, Medical Director of Paradise Behavioral Health, and Jennifer Brady, Community Outreach Liaison, Park Royal Hospital will address the importance of access to Mental Health Resources. The presentation will provide the current state of mental health resources and solutions to increase these resources.

According to Mental Health America, 21% of adults in America are experiencing a mental illness. 55% of these adults (over 28 million) receive no treatment. Nearly 1 in 5 children are diagnosed with a behavioral disorder. Only 20 % of these children receive care from a specialized care provider.

What are the Florida Facts? In 2021, 11% of Florida children received Mental Health Care. In 2023, 32.3% of adults reported symptoms of anxiety and or depression. According to Forbes Advisor, Florida is tied with Georgia for having the second highest percentile of adults in the nation with a Mental Health Illness who did not receive adequate treatment in the past year.

What is being done to help Florida families? What are the strategies to improve connections to Mental Health Care? How can access to Mental Health Care through Behavioral Health Care Integrations be improved?
