Rankin was the first woman elected to the US Congress, where she voted against US entry into WW1. In her second Congressional term, she voted against US entry into WW2. In her later life, Rankin led a peace march against the Viet Nam War. What forces in her life and in the times led her to become such a strong leader for women and peace? The League of Women Voters Missoula and the Jeannette Rankin Peace Center invite you to come to this free presentation
“This presentation explores the forces in Rankin’s life and times led her to become a strong leader for women and peace,” said Nancy Leifer, co-president of the League of Women Voters Missoula. “As the League approaches its 100th anniversary next year, we want to better understand this Missoula native who worked to pass the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution and helped to found the League of Women Voters both nationally and here in Montana.”
