Recent Changes in Delaware Voting Law

Here is a summary of recent changes to Delaware's voting laws...

  1. Early in-person voting:  Beginning in 2022, Delaware voters can vote in-person up to ten days prior to Election Day (including on a weekend!). Click here to find early voting sites and dates in each county, as specified by HB 38 passed in 2019.
  2. Vote by mail and same-day registration:  Both passed the legislature in 2022 and took effect briefly before being struck down by the courts. Either of these features will require a change to our state constitution. Voting by mail is currently only available in Delaware via absentee ballots, which can be requested if you for specific conditions (such as vacation trips or health reasons) that prevent voters from reporting to the polls. And registering to vote in our state still has specific deadlines prior to the election.
