We, as citizens and voters, have a critical role to play in ensuring the country’s balance of power remains intact. After all, we elect our leaders and should hold them to account. This Presidents' Day, then, let us truly reflect on the role and power of America’s chief executive. At the helm of our nation, we deserve leadership grounded in integrity, guided by constitutional responsibility, and committed to the safety and well-being of every person who calls this country home.

In this new year, 2026, Americans across the country will commemorate the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. We certainly have much to celebrate. But as we join in the festivities this year, we also should recognize the many challenges facing America today. These include deep political and social divisions, widening income inequality, and public skepticism as to whether government can work for everyday people. Are there ways we can strengthen our democracy so it can be resilient in the years ahead?
