Register to Vote

  • Are you a first-time CA voter? Click here to register to vote in California.
  • Do you want to change your party, your address, your name? You must re­-register here.
  • Are you an active voter? Be sure! Click here to chek your voter status.
  • Are you age 16 or 17?  Pre-register here. Watch the Pre-registration info video.

Vote by Mail

Completing your mail in ballot

  • Complete ballot in blue or black ink.
  • Made a mistake marking your ballot? Re-mark the ballot in a way that makes your intent clear.
  • For physically damaged or lost ballots: call 925-335-7800 or email: ballot [at] vote.cccounty.us  for replacement.
  • Place your marked ballot in the postage-paid return envelope and seal it. 
  • Sign the ballot envelope. Without a signature the ballot cannot be counted.
  • Mail EARLY via U.S. Postal Service or drop into any Contra Cost County Security Drop Box located across the county.
  • Once received, the County scans the envelope’s security barcode, and verifies the signature.

Vote in person

  • Need to vote in person? Safely prepared early voting sites and polling stations will be available and open throughout Contra Costa County. 
  • Need a provisional ballot?
    If your name does not appear on the roster, you have the right to cast a provisional ballot.

Easy Voter Guide: The Easy Voter Guide provides unbiased, easy voter information about ballot measures, polling place locations, and Secure Drop Box locations. Information is available in 5 languages. 

Voting in California: The California Secretary of State offers voter information and assistance in English and nine more languages. Whether it's your first time voting or you are an experienced voter who has moved and just need to re-register to vote, Voting in California will give you everything you need to get started.
