Register to Vote

  • Are you a first-time CA voterClick here to register to vote in California.
  • Do you want to change your party, your address, your name? You must re­-register here.
  • Are you an active voter? Be sure! Click here to chek your voter status.
  • Are you age 16 or 17?  Pre-register here. Watch the Pre-registration info video.

Vote-by-mail ballots

Completing your vote-by-mail ballot:

  • Complete ballot in blue or black ink.
  • Made a mistake marking your ballot? Re-mark the ballot in a way that makes your intent clear.
  • For physically damaged or lost ballots: call 925-335-7800 or email: ballot [at] vote.cccounty.us  for replacement.
  • Place your marked ballot in the postage-paid return envelope and seal it. 
  • Sign the ballot envelope. Without a signature the ballot cannot be counted.
  • Once received, the County scans the envelope’s security barcode, and verifies the signature.

Returning your vote-by-mail ballot:

  • Deliver it to a secure ballot dropbox or drop off location.
  • Mail it before Election Day. The ballot must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received within 7 days of the election. 
  • Drop it off at any polling place within the county on Election Day.
