A Forum titled Non-Profit Healthcare for All is being held on Sunday, March 8 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A panel of experts will share information on why the current system is broken; looking at health care as a public good; cuts to Medicaid and ACA premium tax subsidies; legislation concerning single payer health care issues; and Medicare Advantage vs traditional Medicare.

The Forum sponsors are Delco Indivisible, the Social Justice Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Delaware County, and PA 5 District Demands Medicare for All.

Delaware County Naturalization Ceremony will take place at the Delaware County Courthouse in Media on March 11, 2026 at 7:00 PM. The League of Women Voters of Central Delaware County has been invited by the presiding Judge to be present at the naturalization ceremony to give each new citizen a packet of information about voting.

The 5th Annual Delaware County Sustainability Conference to be held on Friday, March 13th, 2026, at Swarthmore College in partnership with the Office of Sustainability at Swarthmore College. Topics will include grassroots sustainability success, data centers, zero waste community action.

SAVE ACT
Public Statement

A fundamental constitutional right is threatened by a call for unneeded new paperwork in elections.

This week, lawmakers in Congress renewed their push to pass the SAVE Act, rebranding it as the “SAVE America Act.” Wednesday night, this bill passed the House and will move on to the Senate.

Although this legislation’s title suggests safeguarding Americans and ensuring election security, its actual impact would be catastrophic.

SAVE ACT
News

OPPOSE the SAVE ACT. If enacted, the SAVE Act is a highly restrictive national photo ID bill. It includes a requirement that in order to vote, all voters produce a valid, government issued, photo ID, such as Real ID card, a passport, or a military ID. All would require a photo AND a statement of birthplace, proving citizenship.

On February 14, 2025 the 105th anniversary of its founding, the League of Women Voters sent a letter to Congressional leadership regarding the organization's grave concern over the state of our nation. Specifically, the League writes to urge Congress to exercise its authority to protect the rule of law, defend the Constitution, and end the overreach that the Executive Branch has shown in the last few weeks.
