The League of Women Voters of New Castle County (LWVNCC) President Marjorie Johnson's message for March 2021 is included below...

There are several areas of interest for all League members that I want to highlight this month.

First, there is in this [VOTER newsletter] a short blurb and a link to the LWVUS position on "How to Be Non-Partisan in Hyper-partisan Times." I hope you will click the link and read what is there. It is important information for every League member.

Second, you all have an extraordinary opportunity to participate in several League Day events this month. You may remember that we used to have League Day, one day in the spring, where we would gather in Dover for a morning information program and then go over in the afternoon to meet with legislators. Of course, in this pandemic, we can’t do that. But your Advocacy Corps has put together several informational presentations throughout the month which you can access online (without having to drive to Dover!). They cover a wide range of League interests, and you will see a schedule elsewhere in the Voter. The Advocacy Corps has already had one “Meet your Legislator” session where we met with 3 legislators, virtually, and they are planning more. So stay tuned for information about those, so that you can get to know our elected representatives and ask them questions..

Lastly, LWVNCC is preparing for our annual meeting in June. We would like to pay tribute to several League members who have done extraordinary work, many of them behind the scenes. If you know of someone you think should be recognized, please send their name to me at ...[Marj Johnson's email]... by the end of March. Additionally, we are planning to have a fundraising auction this spring, with the winners to be announced at the annual meeting also. If you have any items you would like to donate for this auction (new and lightly used) please take a picture and send it with a description to Dick Johnson at ...[Dick's email]... by the end of April. We hope to have a lot of items for people to bid on.

As always, thank you for your support and for all you do for the League.
