Our next Making Democracy Work panel "Redistricting: Reading Between the Lines" will take place via Zoom on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 4:00 pm.
Redistricting is required to comply with the 14th Amendment ensuring "one person, one vote." Every 10 years the mandated Census is utilized to redraw districts lines to reflect population growth and shifts. This panel discussion will help the community understand how local district boundaries are drawn and how community members can participate in creating equitable maps of Contra Costa districts. Your voice is needed to draw boundaries that determine representation of candidates for county board of supervisors, city councils, school boards, fire, water and other special districts.
Learn what redistricting is, how the process works, how you can participate and how it affects you.
