The US Senate has adjourned for their August recess after positioning Voting Rights legislation as the first order of business when then return in September.   There is no other legislation that is more important to the future of our democracy than passing legislation to restore fair access to voting and free and fair elections in all fifty states!

The "For the People Act" contains provisionsthat address three major components of free and fair elections:

1.  Sets a floor for access to voter registration and voting that states cannot fall below, ensuring all citizens access to voting.

2.  Addresses gerrymandering by setting standards for drawing Congressional and legislative districts.

3.  Ends Dark Money by requiring transparency in reporting campaign finances and restoring effective oversight by the Federal Elections Commission.

Now is the time to contact Montana's Senators, even if you have contacted them already, contact them again while they are on recess and let them know how important it is to you that they pass Voting and Election reform legislation in September, no matter what it takes!   The LWVUS has endorsed reforming the filibuster.
