League Leaders and Members:

Happy New Year! I hope you and yours are keeping well and have been enjoying the holiday season, safely.

As we look forward to the new year and new beginnings, LWV Diablo Valley will be reinvigorating its efforts to prepare voters for the upcoming mid-term elections - the CA Statewide Direct Primary Election on June 7, 2022 and the
General Election on November 8, 2022.

As it regroups and prepares for the 2022 elections, the Voter Services Team will be needing all of us who can to be ready to volunteer for candidate forums and get out the vote campaigns, and to help with educating voters about Voter’s Edge as an excellent resource for learning about candidates, ballot measures/initiatives, and those who are financing campaigns. With our democracy more fragile than ever, it’s incumbent upon us to do all we can to improve voter turn-out in the mid-term elections, which typically have low voter participation.  So, let’s get ready, get set, and get out the VOTE!

The LWVDV Board approved Saturday, February 12, 2022 as the date for the next General Membership Meeting. This will be a Zoom meeting scheduled for 10:00-12:00. The primary focus is to determine the next year’s Program Priorities for LWV Diablo Valley, and also for LWV Bay Area and LWVUS. We also have an administrative decision which requires a quorum and a vote. Please be on the lookout for more information about this important meeting. We need your ideas and your vote.

Sincerely,
Shawn Gilbert
