League Leaders and Members:

Welcome to a new League year! A big “thank you” to all the Monthly Presidents who did a fantastic job this past year, as well as the board, committee chairs, and members who contributed so much to our success as a League. Our incoming leadership team is looking forward to continuing their good work with another productive year for Diablo Valley. We are also focused on encouraging community and fun within our League.

We spent much of July getting organized for the exciting challenges ahead. At the end of July, we held an incoming board orientation, generating ideas and focus for the next year with an emphasis on our Priorities through the lens of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:
  • Making Democracy Work
  • Exploring Mis/Disinformation
  • Strengthening our Observer Corps
  • Encouraging Citizen Redistricting Commissions

This is an important election year, with the midterms coming up in November. Our Voter Services team will be very busy with voter registration, Pros & Cons, candidate forums, Voter’s Edge, stocking voter registration forms, and providing information on proposed legislation. There will be many opportunities to volunteer.

August is Civic Health Month and there are several important dates to note:
  • August 18: 101-year anniversary of the 19th Amendment ratification
  • August 19:  World Humanitarian Day
  • August 26: Women’s Equality Day

We invite you to be involved with the League as much as your time and interests permit. Please check out the articles in this edition of the Voter and the links on our website – lwvdv.org – for opportunities to connect with us and to participate in big or small activities. We want to get to know you better. Don’t forget our next Coffee Hour on August 10th at 9:00 a.m.
