On Thurs., Oct. 19th, Jane Koster, former president of LWVRI, was honored by Common Cause with a Excellence in Public Service Award. A group of about twelve State League members, including the current co-presidents, attended to honor her 13 years as president of the State League.

This award is "Presented to public officials, public employees, journalists, community organizations, and individuals for their leadership in pursuit of open, honest, and accountable government that serves the public interest; promotes equal rights, opportunity, and representation for all; and empowers all people to make their voices heard in the political process."

Others receiving awards were: Marcela Betancur, Executive Director of the Latino Policy Institute and Representative Katherine Kazarian, RI House of Representatives District 63 (East Providence), and Senator Dawn Euer, District 13 (Newport, Jamestown).
