The Matheson History Museum in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Alachua County and the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections welcomes the traveling exhibition by the Smithsonian, “Voices and Votes: Democracy in America.” Through a selection of photographs, objects, film, audio and interactives, “Voices and Votes” takes a broad look at the nearly 250-year-old American experiment of a government “of, by and for the people.” This exhibition will be on display from July 20 - September 7, 2024.
Additionally, the museum is providing a showing of local history through an array of perspectives as it relates to elections, civil rights, and voting rights of residents in Alachua County. Researched and curated by Liam Shanley and Willett Hancock, the local history exhibition will be on display from June 27, 2024, through early 2025. For more information, call (352) 378-2280.
