VOTE411 is the tool that LWV provides for voters to look up information about the candidates on their ballot. See our VOTE411 page for more information.
Thank you to everyone who helped with contacting candidates to ask them to post their candidacy on Vote411.org, including Patti Bittenbender, Ashia Derksen, Karen Dolder, Ana Pan, and Nancy Bocanegra. I was the County Coordinator for Contra Costa, including areas usually covered by West Contra Costa LWV. We had 154 candidates and 12 local measures to cover.
First, we tracked down the phone numbers and email addresses of the candidates who did not submit that information when they filed for candidacy. Then we emailed invitations using the Vote411 software "back end", and texted or phoned to notify the candidates to look for their invitation (which might have gone to spam). A few candidates needed US mail invitations. Many needed several reminders before they posted! A few needed nudging to edit their posts to meet our guideline of not mentioning their opponents.
Thank you to Paul Derksen for devising a Google Sheet that both the Vote411 and Voter Services teams could use to record the best email addresses and phone numbers and to track our work. Thank you to Shawn for her colorful PowerPoint presentation to candidates, and to Tiffany Martin and all the other volunteers who passed out Vote411 bookmarks or provided other "advertising" to the public.
Ashley Coates, VOTE411 Contra Costa County Coordinator
