“Find Your Civic Voice” Quarterly Meeting Series

First Event to Feature Kristina Pires of Generation Citizen

The League of Women Voters South County (LWVSC) is proud to announce the launch of its new “Find Your Civic Voice” Quarterly Meeting series. The inaugural event will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Maury Loontjens Memorial Library, 25 Pier Marketplace, Narragansett, RI. The meeting is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.  Please register at https://bit.ly/civic_voice.

The keynote speaker for this first Quarterly is Kristina Pires, Executive Director for New England at Generation Citizen, an organization dedicated to empowering young people through project-based civics education. Ms. Pires will share insights on how civics education can help young people understand their civic past and present, preparing them to lead as Democracy’s Rising Generation.

The "Find Your Civic Voice" series marks a new initiative by LWVSC, introduced in response to this year’s League focus on Civics Education and Engagement during this off-election year. With four quarterly meetings planned for 2025, this series aims to foster community discussion, learning, and action on topics that shape our democracy.

"We are excited to create a space where community members can come together, engage with civic leaders, and explore what it means to be an active participant in our democracy," said LWVSC President, Christine Martone. "This series is an opportunity for residents to find and amplify their civic voices."
