Membership
Membership to the League of Women Voters is open to anyone 16 years or older. Our members are passionate activists who work together to create positive and lasting changes in our communities.
Your dues help LWVODC meet its administrative expenses in support of our community forums, membership meetings, and our voter education programs through candidate forums, voter services, and community education. A portion of each member's annual dues is paid to the LWVUS and LWVNC to assist their efforts on behalf of all Leagues.
How Do I Join?
- Pay your Individual or Family Membership dues online or by check. A student membership is free. Please send a message to lwvodc1 [at] gmail.com for more information on student memberships.

- To pay your membership dues by check:
- Make your check payable to LWVODC and mail to: LWVODC, PO Box 3397, Chapel Hill NC 27515-3397. An Individual Membership is $60.00 and a Family Membership for two members at the same address is $90. For more than two members at the same address in a Family Membership, add $30 for each.
- Include the completed Membership Invoice with your check. It contains information that we will need for your membership. If you cannot or do not want to print the invoice, please type or print the following information on a sheet of paper and include it with your check: Your first and last Name, address, county (Orange / Durham / Chatham), phone number and email. If there is more than one member, please include their name, email, and phone number, too. Your information is used only for League membership and is not shared.
- Please consider making a donation to LWVODC to help us reach as many local voters as possible! We aim to reach thousands more people via targeted social media ads, postcard campaigns to unaffiliated voters, and focused marketing strategies to promote LWVODC and Vote411.org. Your donation of any amount is much appreciated! Here are some suggested levels of giving during this critical time in our nation's history:
- Champions of Democracy: $250+
- Leaders of Freedom: $101 - $249
- Protectors of the Vote: $50 - $100
- Friends of Fair Elections: $20 - $49
- To include a non tax-deductible donation with your membership check, include the amount in your membership check.
- To make a tax-deductible donation, use a separate check for the amount of the donotion and address it to LWVODC Education Fund.

Online Membership Payment
You do not need a personal PayPal account to make an online membership payment or to make a donation via PayPal to the League.
An annual Individual membership is $60. You can choose the Individual membership payment option of $60, or you can choose the Individual payment option of $63.15, which includes your membership combined with a contributition of $3.15 to help us cover PayPal's transaction fee for your membership.
