2025 LWVO State Convention

2025 LWVO State Convention

The League of Women Voters of Ohio (LWVO) State Convention is a biennial event with several key purposes.

  1. Electing Leadership: Delegates from local Leagues elect the LWVO's officers and directors for the upcoming two-year term (biennium).
  2. Setting the Agenda & Priorities: Adopting Programs: Delegates decide on the organization's focus and priorities for the next biennium, including the issues and areas where the LWVO will concentrate its efforts. Bylaw Changes: Delegates vote on proposed amendments or changes to the LWVO's bylaws, which are the governing rules of the organization.
  3. Financial Planning: Adopting a Budget: Delegates approve the LWVO's budget, usually for one year, which outlines how the organization's resources will be allocated.
  4. Member Engagement & Development: Workshops and Training: The convention provides workshops and training sessions to enhance members' understanding of League work, advocacy, and civic engagement. Networking: The convention offers opportunities for League members to connect, share ideas, and build relationships with fellow members from across the state. In essence, the LWVO State Convention serves as the primary decision-making body for the organization, setting its direction and ensuring its continued effectiveness in empowering voters and defending democracy in Ohio.
