As the May Primary approaches following the redrawing of legislative district lines, many voters are unsure about what district they are in and who will be on their ballot. Even the incumbents may be unfamiliar to residents in the new districts.

In the primary election, voters in each major party have an opportunity to choose the candidate who will represent their party in the November election. There are multiple candidates vying for a place on the ballot in important races in Pennsylvania – governor and lieutenant governor, U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives. Some seats in the Pennsylvania House and Senate also have multiple candidates in one party or the other.

To assist voters, the League of Women Voters provides a convenient, user-friendly, online Voters Guide. By going to Vote411.org, they can confirm their registration, find out where their polling place is, and learn about the candidates who will be on their ballot.

Every candidate has been invited to enter their background information and they have been asked to respond to several questions relating to important issues so that voters can understand where each candidate stands and compare candidates side by side.

Other groups also provide a platform for candidates to respond to questions, including this newspaper. It is our hope that all candidates seeking to represent us, the electorate, participate fully in the process so that voters can go to the polls understanding who is running and where they stand on the issues.
