Save Act Photo ID Bill Could Disenfranchise Millions of American Women, Poor

OPPOSE the SAVE ACT. If enacted, the SAVE Act is a highly restrictive national photo ID bill. It includes a requirement that in order to vote, all voters produce a valid, government issued, photo ID, such as Real ID card, a passport, or a military ID. All would require a photo AND a statement of birthplace, proving citizenship.

On February 14, 2025 the 105th anniversary of its founding, the League of Women Voters sent a letter to Congressional leadership regarding the organization's grave concern over the state of our nation. Specifically, the League writes to urge Congress to exercise its authority to protect the rule of law, defend the Constitution, and end the overreach that the Executive Branch has shown in the last few weeks. The attached letter outlines our concerns and is signed by leadership from every state League and DC affiliate in the country.

In a triumph for PA voters, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has ruled that Act 77, the legislation that brought voting by mail, also known as "no-excuse" absentee voting to Pennsylvania, is constitutional and will apply to voters this election season.
