How does the immigration journey shape one’s participation in community life in Rhode Island? Three immigrants share their stories of how they came to Rhode Island, what barriers they found to civic participation, how they have navigated being active in community life, and suggestions for community action. Presenters: Julius Kolawole, Dr. Lawrencia Okai, and Jacqueline Richards.

The 9th Annual Community Conversation Series: Immigration, Belonging & Civic Participation

Lippitt House Museum, the Providence League of Women Voters, and the African Alliance of Rhode Island are partnering on two in-person community discussions about civic life for immigrants in Rhode Island. The Community Discussion Series are in-person at 199 Hope Street in Providence. 

Doors open at 6:30 pm with a short reception, followed by a facilitated discussion at 7:00 pm

Admission is free; reservations are required as seating is limited.
