Mark your calendar for our September Meeting:  A Community Forum on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 7 p.m. on the three Constitutional Amendments that will be on Virginia’s November ballot.

The League and the Lifelong Learning Institute [LLI] partner each fall on a Community Forum on a major community issue. The forum is held in the Blacksburg Town Council Chambers. 

This year’s election has added importance because of the three constitutional amendments on the ballot that you need to know about BEFORE you enter the voting booth:

1. Right to Reproductive Freedom
2. Marriage Equality – repealing a state ban on same-sex marriage
3. Automating Restoration of Voting Rights for felons released from incarceration

The forum will offer clear explanations of each measure, what they would change, and why it matters. Patricia Hyer, League member and chair, Our Bodies Our Choice, and Carolyn Rude, Past president, League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, will be the presenters.
