Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are key principles enshrined in the bylaws of the League of Women Voters.  At our November First Tuesday Talk on Election Day, November 7th, David Travis Jr. will lead a discussion about understanding DEI, focusing on how the terms “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” are mutually reinforcing for the League.

The talk and accompanying conversation at our First Tuesday Talk will  begin a thought process for strategies to achieve the League’s DEI mission. League members will have a chance to ask questions and discuss actions that the Montgomery County League can take to further DEI goals here in our own community.

David Travis served as Virginia Tech’s Interim Vice Provost for Inclusion and Diversity before his retirement in 2016. He had a distinguished career with both the Virginia Cooperative Extension and Virginia Tech. He brings to the First Tuesday Talk years of leadership experience in personnel and affirmative action, including serving as Tech’s Interim Director for Equal Opportunity.

Travis is married to Deborah Travis, our League’s vice president and president of the Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County branch of the NAACP.

Join us at Avellinos at 11:45 a.m. on Election Day for lunch, good fellowship and an insightful presentation and group discussion on DEI.
