Voter Registration Committee Accomplishments
This Fall our voter registration volunteers have spoken with 3200 students across the county and, as of today, have registered or pre-registered almost 1000 students. We visited 21 schools over 6 weeks - with Oxnard schools representing 2/3 of the students seen. Our 9 coordinators trained 65 volunteers, including 6 Westlake students who led presentations in the classrooms.
- “Great Videos, Good Engagement Strategies,”
- “Excellent, helpful for students to hear from people their own age (videos),”
- “Video more relevant to current events, esp ICE, would have been more engaging, especially connecting using your voice to make change/justice,”
- “Add info on Ballot security since so many people have been discussing voter integrity,”
- “More info on why each vote counts”
- “Presentation gets better every year,”
- “You have changed my entire perspective on local voting,”
- “Great presentation, informative, would like to have more young people explain their views on voting,”
- “More information about voting process,”
- “Have more discussion between peers,”
- “It was impactful, I wasn't planning to register but you guys inspired me”
We want to share our appreciation to all of our volunteers who have come to help educate students about the importance of voting and helping them register/pre-register to vote. If you have feedback you would like to share with our committee, please send it to Betsy Patterson. We will resume our project in 2026.
