July Report

As we move into the summer, weather has taken a front seat in the news, whether it be flooding in the South, heat waves in the North East or droughts and fires in the West. Unfortunately, this is a trend that will continue to get worse unless we plan to significantly reduce our emissions of global warming gases. Reducing these emissions will require transition to renewable energy sources, and this transition must include considering environmental and economic justice.

On May 19, Joe Houde, chair of the North County (San Diego) Climate Change Alliance, presented to the LWV US Climate Interest Group  on Climate Action Plans.  He discussed what cities and counties can and should include in their Climate Action Plans to proactively address the effects of climate change.  If you missed it, you can view it HERE

We discuss climate mis/disinformation in our meetings because it works against the adoption of renewable solutions. This short video, The Secret to Talking about Climate Change, contains good advice for talking to skeptics about the climate.
