The Climate Change Committee helps with education to to identify things we can do to reduce the causes of climate change and adapt to our changing future.

October Report

In our October meeting we will take a look at the fate of some of the climate bills that passed the California legislature. Which ones did Governor Newsom sign?

The nonprofit Plug In America designated Sept 11th - Oct 12th as National Drive Electric Month. Here are some local events that allow you to check out, and in some cases drive, an EV:

  • Oct 4 - 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In Ventura Harbor Village at 1583 Spinnaker Drive: More than 100 electric vehicles will be on display.
  • Oct 17 - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Drive Electric Ventura will be at Ventura Unified School District, 255 W. Stanley Ave, Ventura. The event will offer ride-and-drive opportunities.
  • Oct 18 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.Thousand Oaks Rotary Club Street Fair will feature EVs.

The League takes action on climate
  • The LWV US submitted comments to the EPA regarding the "2009 Endangerment Finding" which enabled the EPA to regulate harmful gas emissions.  LINK 
  • The LWV US submitted comments about EPA's "Reconsideration of the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program". LINKLWV speaks with Tom Steyer about Climate Change
