On September 17, 2026, our guest speaker was Cat Carrier of VC Defensa. She shared many aspects of VC Defensa's participation in aiding those impacted by ICE.

She told us about NSPM7 (National Security Presidential Memorandum Number 7). This proclamation, made by Trump in September of 2025, classifies any dissent against his agenda as "domestic terrorism", and justifies ignoring civil rights and using terror tactics to dismantle any organizations that oppose his agenda. This proclamation ties directly to an increase in attacks on the community.

Previous Meetings:

At our July 16 meeting our guest speaker was Ron Merkord, an ICE observer who also works with 805Undocufund. He spoke to us about several incidents he has observed, including a gardener who was apprehended at a gas station and had to leave behind all his equipment. Ron was able to to contact the family and have the gentleman’s property returned home.  Ron's presentation was clear and compassionate, and delivered in such a way that even someone who favors ICE would perhaps listen.
