Election Laws that Protect Voters' Rights and Expand Voter Access
- House Bill 5120 Voter Registration Forms Provided to Tenants - LWVCT supports HB5120
- House Bill 5278 AA Revising Certain Absentee Voting Statutes- LWVCT supports this bill and all measures which assure that absentee ballot privileges are available to all electors.
- House Bill 5404 AAC The Secretary of State and Ranked Choice Voting- the League supports the careful study of Ranked Choice Voting.
- Senate Bill 233 AAC Elections- LWVCT supports restoring the electoral privileges of convicted felons who are on parole, improving the electoral process and maximizing voter participation.
- Senate Bill 234 AAC Voter Privacy Protection- LWVCT supports this bill which decreases concerns about privacy of personal information that could lead people to be hesitant to register or vote.
- Senate Bill 241 AAC Auditing of Election Day Registration- LWVCT OPPOSES this bill and believes that to disenfranchise a voter because their former town is unable to be reached or respond on the day of an election denies a prospective voter the right to vote.
- Senate Bill 365 AAC Online Applications for Absentee Ballots -The League supports SB365, which allows any eligible elector to electronically request an absentee ballot through the Secretary of the State’s website.
- Senate Bill 368 AAC The Counting of Encarcerated Persons for Purposes of Determining Legislative Districts Testimony by Yvonne Senturia and Testimony by Laura Smits- The League supports this bill to end "prison-based gerrymandering" that would require incarcerated persons to be counted in the census as part of their home community, rather than the location where they are incarcerated.
- Senate Joint Resolution 15 Resolution Proposing an Amendment to the State Constitution to Permit Early Voting- LWVCT supports this joint resolution that would amend the state constitution to give the General Assembly authority to create an early voting system.
Campaign Finance and Citizens' Election Program
- House Bill 5405 Concerning qualifying contributions under the Citizen's Election Progam - LWVCT supports this bill as it provides a technical fix allowing funds raised through the program to be returned to the contributor if a candidate does not end up qualifying for the program.
- House Bill 5406 Statute Revisions - LWVCT supports this bill which would strengthen campaign finance transparency and accountability and improve voters’ access to information about who is funding campaign expenditures.
- House Bill 5410 Changes to Campaign Finance Laws - The LWVCT supports HB 5410 and believes that transparent disclosure of the source and funding of political content targeted to voters will strengthen our elections and our democracy.
