May 5, 2020 Call to Action Regarding Absentee Voting throughout 2020 Elections

May 5, 2020 Call to Action Regarding Absentee Voting throughout 2020 Elections

Time Range For Action Alert:
May 5, 2020 to May 21, 2020

Send a letter to Governor Lamont and your CT Senator and Representative

The League of Women Voters of Connecticut believes all CT citizens deserve easy and safe access to the elections that will not jeopardize their health or risk their livelihood. For many voters, mail-in voting will be their only choice. In Connecticut in 2020, this means voting by absentee ballot.

We urge the Governor to issue an executive order that eliminates current restrictive language in the absentee ballot statutes during this emergency.
We also urge the Governor to call the General Assembly into Special Session to provide the legal authority to eliminate this restrictive language during the entire 2020 election season.

Voters should NOT have to choose between their health and their right to vote.

What YOU can do:
1: CLICK HERE  to email the Governor and urge him to 1) issue an executive order that eliminates current restrictive language in the absentee ballot statutes during this emergency, and 2) call the General Assembly into Special Session to provide the legal authority to eliminate this restrictive language during the entire 2020 election season.
2: Send a message to your State Senator and Representative urging them to pass legislation permitting any eligible voter to use an absentee ballot in 2020 elections for any reason. Not sure who represents you? CLICK HERE to find out.
