As the 2024 presidential election draws near, political polarization is top of mind. The local chapter of the League of Women Voters is launching a series aimed at combatting political polarization.

HARRISBURG, PA — Yesterday, the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania (LWVPA) filed an amicus brief in Public Interest Legal Foundation v. Schmidt, a case before the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, urging the court to reject an attempt to disclose personal information of voters to a third-party, private group. The League is represented by Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.

The League of Women Voters of Connecticut and a coalition of allied organizations submitted a letter to Governor Lamont on September 6, 2023 urging him to include bonding for tabulators and upgrades to the automatic voter registration system in the September Bonding Commission Meeting agenda. Without timely approval, the intricate processes of selecting, ordering, and training personnel on new tabulators cannot feasibly conclude before the critical November 2024 elections.

Organizing and activating eligible voters has always been one of the goals of the League of Women Voters, a non-partisan group that advocates for voter rights and greater involvement in the democratic process. The league is renewing its efforts to register younger voters — ones who aren’t old enough to vote yet, but will become eligible the moment they turn 18.

The 18th annual ‘Running and Winning’ workshop took place Thursday. It’s an all-day event that gives high school girls the opportunity to learn what it takes to win and hold office. It was put on by the League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women, and the YMCA - and it focused on teaching young women how to run a campaign.
