Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Census Bureau has adjusted it's timeline for Census data collection, moving everything back by about four months. Connecticut is doing better than the national average with self-response, but there are notable gaps between our cities.

Secretary of the State Denise Merrill held a press conference on May 5, 2020 announcing plans and changes, made after conferring with Town Clerks and Registrars, to make sure that Connecticut’s upcoming elections are “safe, secure and accessible to all voters”.

Public Statement

The American Civil Liberties Union and ACLU of Connecticut filed a federal lawsuit seeking to make absentee mail-in voting available to every eligible voter during the COVID-19 pandemic. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the Connecticut State Conference of NAACP Branches and the League of Women Voters of Connecticut, as well as an individual Connecticut resident.
