Early Voting Begins March 26 and Polling Locations Are Posted Online

The first election in Connecticut to allow early in-person voting will be the Presidential Preference Primary on Tuesday, April 2. Early voting begins on Tuesday, March 26.

Voters will cast their ballots for which candidate they wish to see as the nominee for the Democratic or Republican party.

Early Voting polling locations for the upcoming Presidential Preference Primaries are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 26, 27, 28 and 30. Polls will be closed March 29 in observance of Good Friday. 

Early voting takes place in person, but not at your typical polling location. 

Who can vote in the Presidential Primary?

Because Connecticut is a closed primary state, only voters registered with a party are eligible to vote in that party's primary. You can enroll up until April 1 at noon if you are:

Note: The deadline to switch parties and vote in the Presidential Primary was January 2nd.

Absentee ballots are also available & absentee ballot drop boxes will be open.

Important Dates and Deadlines:

  • March 26, 27, 28, and 30 – in-person early voting polling locations are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • April 1 at NoonDeadline for new and unaffiliated voters to register in-person with the Registrar or Town Clerk in your municipality for voting on April 2.
  • April 2 –  Presidential Primary Day - regular polling locations are open 6  a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voters who are waiting in line before the polls close have a right to cast their ballot.
