Blog PostThe Presidential Preference Primary is April 2, 2024 and it's the first time voters will have access to in-person early voting.
Early voting polling locations will be open from 10 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, March 26, Wednesday, March 27, Thursday, March 28, and Saturday, March 30.
You must affiliate to participate.
Connecticut is a closed primary state. According to the rules set by each political party, only voters registered with that party are eligible to vote in that party's primary.
Unaffiliated voters can enroll with a party up until noon the day before a primary election. Don’t wait until the last minute! Unsure if you're registered with a party?

Important Dates and Deadlines:
- March 15 –Online and mail-in registration deadline for new voters to register and for unaffiliated voters to enroll with a party to participate in the April 2nd Presidential Primary.
- March 26, 27, 28, and 30 –in-person early voting will take place 10am-6pm. Contact your Registrar of Voters to confirm your early voting polling location.
- April 1 at Noon – Deadline to register in-person with the Registrar or Town Clerk in your municipality. Also deadline for Unaffiliated voters to enroll in a party in person for voting on April 2.
- April 2 – 6am-8pm is Presidential Primary Day
