Join Us for an Evening of Inspiration and Celebrationat the 2025 LWV Greenwich Annual Meeting and Dinner
The LWV Greenwich invites the community to its 2025 Annual Meeting and Dinner on
Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Riverside Yacht Club. The evening will begin with the Annual
Meeting for LWV Greenwich members from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by cocktails at 6:30
p.m. and dinner at 7:00 p.m. for members and guests.
This year’s keynote speaker is Margarita Alban, Chair of the Greenwich Planning and
Zoning Commission, who will present “My Mother’s Lessons: Building Trust through
Conversation and Transparency.” In her remarks, Ms. Alban will discuss the importance of
bringing all stakeholders together to build answers. She will focus on including and respecting
diverse viewpoints, leading to better outcomes.
The evening will also honor three individuals whose leadership and dedication reflect the
mission and spirit of LWV Greenwich:
• Sandy Waters, the 2024 Mary Award honoree, has spent nearly 50 years strengthening
the Greenwich community through advocacy, leadership, and volunteerism. Under her
presidency, LWV Greenwich has expanded its reach and modernized its operations. She
has also made a lasting impact on the Greenwich Board of Education, the YMCA, and
other civic institutions, demonstrating visionary leadership rooted in public service and
excellence.
• Nancy Duffy, the recipient of the 2025 Burnett Award, has been a dynamic volunteer in
Greenwich for more than four decades. In addition to her service on the LWV Greenwich
Board, she has contributed her leadership to the Bruce Museum, Greenwich Library
Friends, Round Hill Association, and SNAC. A former educator and business executive,
Nancy exemplifies a lifelong commitment to civic engagement, education, and the arts.
• Margarita Alban, who will receive the 2024 Community Impact Award, has served on
the Planning and Zoning Commission since 2006 and as Chair since 2018. She is widely
respected for fostering transparency, civil public discourse, and effective governance. Her
inclusive approach to leadership reflects the League’s values of open dialogue and
community empowerment. She exemplifies the League’s mission to strengthen
democracy at the local level.
