The public is invited to attend the annual Legislative Breakfast, hosted by the League of Women Voters of Northeastern Connecticut and the Mansfield Senior Center, on Saturday.Doors open at 8:30 AM and the program begins at 9:00.
Local legislators have been invited to attend and speak to the audience. They will be discussing issues of concern to the residents of northeastern Connecticut, especially those that will be addressed during the upcoming General Assembly session.
The legislators invited to attend, and the districts they represent, include State Senators Dan Champagne (35th), Mae Flexer (29th), and Cathy Osten (19th) and State House Representatives Tim Ackert (8th), Doug Dubitsky (47th), Robin Green (55th), Gregg Haddad (54th), Susan Johnson (49th), and Pat Wilson Pheanious (53rd). The event organizers also hope to have the new State Representative for the 48th district, the seat left vacant following the resignation and death of long-time representative Linda Orange.
There will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions of the legislators, but they must be submitted in writing. Questions can be submitted at the event, or in advance by e-mail to lwvnectforum [at] gmail.com.
The program will begin with the chapter's brief annual meeting, including a presentation by. Ms Wazer, a first-year student at UConn, was one of the organizers of the September 2019 Connecticut Climate Strike in Hartford. She expects to be active in 2020 as the General Assembly considers important legislation concerning the environment.
