The League of Women Voters of Litchfield County announced today that it will partner with the Litchfield Historical Society to present “Feet on the Ground at the Border” with Mary Alice McCabe, a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur. The talk is Sunday, November 24th, at 3 p.m. at the Litchfield Historical Society. McCabe will share her experience working with immigrants at the Humanitarian Respite Center in McAllen, Texas and with asylum seekers waiting on the Brownsville-Matamoros Bridge.

McCabe has spent more than half of her life working with rural communities in Latin America and is the author of “History in Our Hands” and “Our Struggle was The Sacred Struggle”. The talk will be followed by a reception hosted by the League of Women Voters. This event is free and open to the public.
