Tuesday, March 18, 2025 - 9:30am to 10:30am

Join the CT Environmental Rights Amendment Alliance for Lobby Day!

When: March 18th, 9:30 - 10:30 AM

Where: Legislative Office Building (Room 2D), Hartford, CT

The event will feature youth speakers and advocates sharing their voices on why protecting our air, water, and climate matters for future generations. It’s the perfect chance to bring a young person in your life and show them how advocacy works, how the legislative process shapes our future, and how they can make a difference.

The resolution proposes a state constitutional amendment ballot question for Connecticut voters in 2026:

"Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to (1) provide each citizen an enforceable individual right to clean and healthy air, water, soil, ecosystems and environment, and a safe and stable climate for the benefit of public health, safety and the general welfare, that is equivalent to all other inalienable rights, (2) place certain obligations upon the state, including requiring the state to conserve, manage, protect and maintain the state's natural resources,  and (3) prohibit the diversion of funds supporting protection of such resources?"

The Connecticut Environmental Rights Amendment would give every person the rights stated above, and protect them equitably regardless of race, ethnicity, tribal membership status, gender, socioeconomics, or geography. This effort is affiliated with the national Green Amendments for the Generations movement.
