On the heels of the 2020 election, the LWV Greenwich & the Greenwich Library invite you to join them for this fascinating program about strengthening confidence in American democracy in the 21st century.

Two years ago, under the auspices of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, the Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship was formed to study "how best to respond to the weaknesses and vulnerabilities in our political and civic life." To inform their report, Commission members interviewed a broad and diverse group of Americans in listening sessions in 47 cities and towns across the country.

The Commission's report, Our Common Purpose: Reinventing American Democracy for the 21st Century, was released in June 2020. It includes six strategies and 31 ambitious recommendations to help the nation emerge as a more resilient democracy by 2026, the nation's 250th birthday. This will be the focus of our January 13th program. If you are interested in reading the Commission's report, please CLICK HERE.

This event is open to members and non-members.
