The League of Women Voters of Northern Fairfield County presents:

Reflections on The Tulsa Massacre of 1921,

One Hundred Years Later

Danielle N. King, Professor

History & Non-Western Cultures

Western Connecticut State University

The prosperous Black community of Greenwood in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was known as the "Negro Wall Street of America."  Resentful of the success achieved by descendants of formerly enslaved Black people, along with allegations that a Black man had assaulted a white woman, Greenwood was violently eradicated physically and historically.  On the centennial of this heinous event that has been willfully forgotten and largely suppressed, the massacre, destruction, and legacy shall be uncovered and explored.

The League of Women Voters of Northern Fairfield County is proud to present this webinar on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

There will be a Q&A period at the end of Professor King’s presentation.
