National Voter Registration Day is September 16th!
Don't underestimate the power of your vote in local elections! Register to vote or update your registration in under 5 minutes online, or stop by a voter registration drive in your area on Tuesday.
To be eligible to vote in Connecticut you must:
- be a United States citizen.
- be a resident of a Connecticut town.
- be at least 17 years old (must turn 18 on or before election day); 17 year olds, who will turn 18 on or before election day, may participate in general primary.
- have completed confinement if previously convicted of a disenfranchising felony.*

If you have a valid DMV-issued ID and signature on file with the DMV, you can use Connecticut's online voter registration system to:
- register to vote in Connecticut, or
- change your name and/or address on your current registration record, or
- enroll in a political party or change party enrollment.

FAQ:
- How do I register if I don't have a DMV-issued ID? A: If you have access to a printer, you can use the online portal to fill out an application in English or Spanish, using the last four digits of your social security number. You'll be prompted to print out your completed application and mail it or drop it off at your city or town hall. Otherwise, just head to your town hall or a the nearest voter registration drive!
- What if I'm not sure whether I need to update my registration? Check you voter registration online using the CT Voter Lookup Tool to verify if you're registered and if you are enrolled with a party.
- What if I want to change my party enrollment? Changing parties may result in losing rights to participate in all parties for three months, including primary elections. So plan ahead!
