Please join us on December 10th for a virtual information session about Ranked Choice Voting, presented by Voter Choice Connecticut.
Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) is an election reform that’s getting a lot of attention because it gives voters a better way to express their preferences and produces more representative election outcomes. It was recommended by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences as a strategy for achieving equality of voice and representation in its report, Reinventing American Democracy for the 21st Century.
Voter Choice CT is the volunteer-led grassroots organization formed in Dec. 2018 that is advocating for the use of Ranked Choic Voting in Connecticut state and federal elections. They’ve generated a lot of interest in the Connecticut General Assembly, getting HB-5820, An Act Establishing a Task Force to Study Ranked Choice Voting, passed in the House in 2019, raised again in 2020, and introduced again this year. In both 2019 and 2020 the LWV CT testified in favor of the study bill.
They’ll talk about why RCV is a much-needed election reform, answer questions and let us know how we can support their efforts.
