WASHINGTON — Today (June 25, 2022) the League of Women Voters of the United States President Dr. Deborah Turner and CEO Virginia Kase Solomón issued the following joint statement in response to the 6 – 3 Supreme Court decision of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturns the constitutional right to abortion as recognized for nearly 50 years in the landmark cases of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

The LWVSC held their annual meeting on 5/18 at which they voted on the program for the upcoming year. Energized group discussions were held to develop ideas to put the 2022-23 program goals into action. The upcoming year promises to be an active one, as meetings, forums, and social events are already being planned.

Information for voting in school board elections is now available on VOTE411.org, the website created by the League of Women Voters. Five of the six school districts in Sussex County will hold elections for school board position openings on May 10. A press release is attached.
