The Transformative Justice Coalition, American Federation of Teachers, Rainbow PUSH Coalition, FL NAACP, LWV of FL, and other partners hosted a rolling protest visiting 15 cities in Florida to fight against the assault on democracy that is occurring in Florida. The protest and Votercade arrived in Gainesville on June 19th for a Juneteenth reception and concert featuring gospel singer, Vickie Winans.

League of Women Voters of Alachua County (LWVAC) VP Gwendolyn Saffo, Voter Services co-chair Gwen Wagner (with her grandson, Henry), and member Lori Erikson participated in the Votercade. They met the John Lewis Good Trouble bus with the Freedom Riders in Alachua and made good trouble escorting the bus to Bo Diddley Plaza in downtown Gainesville.

Thanks to Gwendolyn Saffo and Gwen Wagner's grandson, Henry for the photos from the Votercade.

At the STOP WOKE Protest event in Bo Diddley Plaza, LWVAC was represented by Treasurer Anne D’Amico, and Voter Services members Linda Musillo, Isabel Coutts, Sheri Martin, Winnie Perez, and Alison Keel, with Alison making remarks on behalf of LWVAC. Everyone who approached the LWVAC table was already registered to vote, but volunteers answered questions and collected petition signatures for the Right to Abortion and Right to Clean Water amendments.

A special thanks to Stephen Kimmel for the photos from the protest event.
