Registration is now open!

The state League, LWVFL, has emailed all members as of January 26 about Lobby Days in Tallahassee with registration and room block information. This is a unique opportunity to meet with our local legislators and discuss our legislative priorities, get familiar with the Capital, and network with League members.

Here is what to expect:

  • Day 1 is filled with comprehensive trainings that will include updates on the current climate of the Florida legislature, lobbying best practices and in-depth information sessions regarding our 2023 legislative priorities. This day is capped off with an evening awards reception.
  • Day 2 is where the work really happens! Our members descend upon the halls of the state capitol to meet with legislators regarding our legislative priorities, sit in on committee meetings and watch each chamber with an eagle-eye as they conduct business and pass legislation.

LWVAC is pleased to offer reimbursement of your registration cost of $175.00 and to reimburse $110.00 per night of hotel for up to two nights. All reimbursements require participating in lobbying events and submitting receipts to our Treasurer, info [at] lwv-alachua.org (Fran Towk), AFTER you participate and the event has concluded. To be clear, hold your receipts to submit after you return from the event. Reimbursement for registration and hotel will occur after the event. If you prefer to submit your receipts by USPS mail, they can be sent to Fran's attention at P.O. Box 15285, Gainesville, FL 32604-5285.

info [at] lwv-alachua.org (Jean Robinson) will be arranging appointments with legislators for Day 2. Please email info [at] lwv-alachua.org (Jean and Deb Shimon) that you will be attending so appointments and training can be coordinated. Jean has also offered to give training to anyone who would like it.

All travel arrangements must be made by each individual, LWV of Alachua County is not arranging these details. Shared rooms and carpooling are recommended for cost savings. Registration closes on March 5 at 12:00 p.m. (ET), so make your reservations soon.
