Get Involved: Join an LWVCC Committee

LWVCC members are invited to participate in one or more committees. Your time, ideas, and involvement help us advance our mission to empower voters and strengthen democracy. Explore the committees below to find one that fits your interests—your voice makes a difference!

Book Group

All League members are invited to attend and participate in the monthly Concord Town Government Committee meetings. This is an excellent way to become better informed about what is happening in our local town government and schools and to help bring about change in accordance with League positions.

Carlisle Town Government & Observer Corps

This committee is currently inactive, but we welcome your interest in reviving LWVCC’s efforts in Carlisle! If you’d like to get involved, please reach out to us at league [at] lwvcc.org—we’d love to hear from you.

The Diversity Equity Inclusion Belonging committee is concerned with discrimination or harassment of any kind within the League and our community, including race, socio-economic status, age, ability status, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, gender, or marital status. We are committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of belonging for all people by holding roundtables with all social justice advocates as well as supporting our town DEI Commission.

Environment

Chair: Janet Rothrock
Email: environment [at] lwvcc.org
This committee mentors individuals wishing to present articles at Town Meeting on environmental issues.  It also advises the LWVCC Board on positions to take on Town Meeting articles concerning the environment, climate, and biodiversity. The committee also presents or co-sponsors occasional presentations on environmental issues.

Housing Issues

Chair: Stephan Bader & Ingrid Detweiler
Email: housingissues [at] lwvcc.org
The committee works in support of LWV and LWVCC housing positions. Monthly meetings review the work of Concord’s housing-related committees and housing projects. We advocate for fair housing initiatives in Concord. We make recommendations on housing-related warrant articles for Concord’s Annual Town Meeting.

Membership

Chair: Linda Ziffrin
Email: membership [at] lwvcc.org
LWVCC has over 200 members, making it the largest chapter in Massachusetts. The membership committee is the contact point for new and renewing members, answering questions about membership dues, how to get involved, and more. More information.

Nominating

Chair: Karlen Reed
Email: nominating [at] lwvcc.org
The Nominating Committee searches for suitable LWVCC candidates, interviews them, and presents a slate to the League at the Annual Meeting. The committee also gathers general input on how the League is performing and makes recommendations to the Board. The committee consists of Board and non-board League members.

Voter Service

Chairs: Nancy Confrey & Emily Wheeler
