Join the League of Women Voters of Concord-Carlisle for its annual Winter Breakfast. Sabine von Mering, Director of the Center for German and European Studies at Brandeis University and Climate Activist, will be our keynote speaker. She will discuss grassroots efforts to protect our climate, showcasing contemporary forms of climate activism from around the world.
This hybrid event is free and open to the public. The breakfast starts at 9:30 a.m., followed by the keynote speech at 10:00 a.m.

About Sabine von Mering:
Sabine von Mering is the co-editor of the recently published Routledge Handbook of Grassroots Climate Activism, which introduces contemporary forms of grassroots climate activism from around the world through the lenses of a variety of academic disciplines, methodologies, and perspectives. Focusing on bottom-up case studies, it showcases innovative and creative approaches, as well as the knowledge of those working towards swift decarbonization, just transitions, and climate justice.
Sabine van Mering is a Professor of German and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, a core member of the Environmental Studies Program, and Director of the Center for German and European Studies (CGES) at Brandeis University. In addition to The Routledge Handbook of Grassroots Climate Activism, her recent publications include the English translation of German climate activists Luisa Neubauer and Alexander Repenning’s Beginning to End the Climate Crisis. A History of Our Future. She is a longtime climate activist with 350Mass, helped to write Brandeis’ climate action plans, and was co-chair of Brandeis’ President’s Task Force on Campus Sustainability. Sabine grew up on a small car-free German island in the North Sea and is a mother of two.
