Our Mission
The League of Women Voters of Orange Durham and Chatham Counties, Inc. Education Fund conducts voter service and citizen education activities. The LWVODC Education Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan, nonprofit public policy educational organization, which:
- Builds citizen participation in the democratic process.
- Studies key community issues at all government levels in an unbiased manner.
- Increases understanding of major public policy issues.
- Enables people to seek positive solutions to public policy issues through education and conflict management.
What is The Education Fund?
The Education Fund provides funding for research, publications and materials, and enables LWVODC to hold forums and to disseminate information and training to citizens. The Education Fund cannot be used for lobbying purposes. Your donation to LWVODC Education Fund is tax-deductible.
How to Donate to The Education Fund
Donations to the Education Fund are fully tax-deductible where allowed by law. Your donation of any amount is greatly appreciated!
- Suggested levels of giving during this critical time in our history are:
- Champions of Democracy: $250+
- Leaders of Freedom: $101 - $249
- Protectors of the Vote: $50 - $100
- Friends of Fair Elections: $20 - $49

How to Apply for an Education Fund Grant
Any member of the League of Women Voters of Orange, Durham and Chatham Counties, Inc. may submit an application for a grant from the Education Fund. The project for which funding is requested must have been approved by the board of LWVODC before application can be made for an Education Fund grant.
Examples of where support may be approved:
- LWVODC research, publications, and materials on current public policy issues
- Forums such as panel discussions on LWV positions, candidates' debates, and forums on ballot issues
- Civic education such as meetings regarding schools, violence toward women, environment, health care, gun violence prevention
- Creation and dissemination of voter service information such as voters' guides and support of 411.org (online version of LWVODC voter's guide)
- Training of League members to support a speakers bureau wherein members would speak to the community on important League topics
- Registration of voters
