Join LWV or Redding and the Mark Twain Library for a virtual discussion of the humble and heartwarming memoir by By Bryan Stevenson Michelle Kuo, Reading with Patrick: A Teacher, a student, and a Life Changing Friendship.
In this book, Kuo shares a coming-of-age story of both a young teacher and a teenage student all the while examining education, race, and justice in the rural South. “Honest, thoughtful, humane, Kuo’s book is not only a testament to a remarkable friendship, but a must-read for anyone interested in social justice and race in America” –Kirkus Reviews. Copies of the book have been reserved for participants of this discussion.
Contact Cathy at the library to obtain a copy, cathy [at] marktwainlibrary.org. The discussion will be moderated by Tom Kilbourn, ordained Episcopal priest and retired Joel Barlow English teacher. This discussion group is part of the Conversations Series which was created in partnership by the Mark Twain Library and the Redding League of Women Voters in an effort to offer our community an opportunity to continue the conversation on race.
