How to Be an Advocate for Fair Maps

How to Be an Advocate for Fair Maps

Monday, August 2, 2021 - 10:00am to 1:00pm

Introducing CROWD Academy – an important opportunity for you to learn how to be an advocate for redistricting reform in your own community! You must register for this virtual event

With elections at every level of government approaching, new districts will be drawn for choosing our representatives. These districts will affect our communities in the allocation of resources and policy decisions for the next 10 years.

The League of Women Voters of North Carolina has been selected by the Southern Coalition for Social Justice as a sponsor for a CROWD Academy, to take place virtually on August 2 & 3, 2021 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. (CROWD is an acronym for Community Redistricting Organizations Working for Democracy.)

The CROWD Academy will provide tools to monitor and engage with redistricting processes at every level of government, spot warning signs, and take action if decisions are likely to infringe on the right to an equal opportunity to participate in elections. Participants will be able to interact with community citizens, train them in using tools for identifying communal interests, and prepare them to advocate for their interests
